A pidgin is a variety of language that is generally used by native speakers of other languages as a medium of communication used for some practical purposes. It is a simplified language with reduced vocabularies, originating most often from the higher dominant language and an absence of grammatical features such as case, tense, mood and voice, etc. On the other hand, a creole language is originally a pidgin that has become established as a native language in some speech community. That is, when a pidgin comes to be adopted by a population as its primary language, and children learn it as their first language, then the pidgin language is called a creole. In contrast with a pidgin, creoles are fully developed languages, as complete in every way as other languages. When a pidgin begins to play the role of a trade language, it undergoes considerable expansion of its vocabulary and grammar and begins to acquire rules comparable in nature and complexity with the rules of any other human natural language, then it becomes a creole.
