Teaching Procedures：
Step 1 Presentation (6 minutes)
（1）Show an example and ask students to make sentences in past tense and write them down on the blackboard.
Example: Karl Benz invented the car in 1885.
（2）Ask students try to transfer the sentences on the blackboard into passive voice.
（3）According to the sentences above, invite several students to summarize the structure of the passive voice used in past tense —“was/were+done”.
（4）Explain the rules to students with the help of the example sentences.
(Justification: Through these activities, students will grasp the basic structure gradually.)
Step 2 Practice (9 minutes)
（1）Substitutional drill
Ask students to work in pairs using the sentence structure “一When was ... invented? 一It was invented in …”to make dialogues according to the information below.

（2）Transformation drill
Ask students to change the following sentences into passive voice and then check the answers.
①We covered the Christmas tree with lights.
The Christmas tree ____ ____ with lights by us.
②His father bought a computer for him last month.
A computer for him ____ ____ last month by his father.
③My grandfather cut down the apple trees in the garden last week.
The apple trees in the garden ____ ____ ____ by my grandfather last week.
(Justification: This type of exercise can help students have a deeper understanding of how the “passive voice” is formed and how it is used.)
（3）Meaning full practice — Chain of events
The first student starts a question with the passive voice. The next student answers the question and starts another question with the passive voice. For example, the first student says “When was your homework done?” The second student says “My homework was done at 8 o'clock on Saturday. Who was praised by the teacher?”
(Justification: This activity can involve students in the class and encourage them to make their own sentences using the target language.)
Step 3 Production (5 minutes)
Ask students to talk about their holidays in groups using passive voice.
After around 3 minutes, invite several groups to show their dialogues and give evaluations.
